About this Godzilla figure

This is Godzilla (2016) 4th Form Monster Roar Attack Extra Large, out of the Godzilla roster. It stands about 10.2 in. It is a display piece rather than a toy — the pose is the product, and there is nothing to articulate or swap afterwards.

What the listing specifies

Taken from the product listing, trimmed of the sales language:

  • Monster Roar Attack eXtra Large Godzilla(2016)4th.Form from『Shin Godzilla』
  • Standing at Approx. 10.2", Shin Godzilla is seen in their iconic pose
  • Monster Roar Attack eXtra Large are kaiju figures with enlarged detail and size! They are truly a presence to behold

Looking after it

Keep it out of direct sun. Prize-figure paint is thin by design and the warm tones go first; a shelf across the room from a window will outlast one on the sill by years. Dust with a soft brush rather than a cloth — woven fabric catches on sculpted hair tips and snaps them.

Where this Banpresto figure sits in the hall

On the Godzilla shelf this is the dearest of 16 Banpresto figures, and the shelf as a whole runs $19 to $126. For scale, the deepest shelf in the hall is Dragon Ball with 115 collectable figures on it; a Dragon Ball piece from the same line as this one is built to the same height and finish, which is the quickest way to judge a Banpresto format before committing to it.

    Pleasantly surprised by the quality.

I preordered this a long time ago because I missed out on a lot of the top-shelf Shin Godzilla collectibles when the movie first came out, so I had been looking forward to this release. The packaging is surprisingly compact since the tail is split into two pieces. The box presentation definitely isn’t at the X-Plus level. In fact it looks like a cheap toy. What surprised me is the actual sculpt. Once everything is put together, it rivals many of the better X-Plus pieces in terms of likeness and surface texture. Assembly literally took about three seconds. Some figures require a blow dryer or heat gun just to soften the plastic or vinyl enough to fit the parts together. Overall, I’m glad to finally have a good-sized Shin Godzilla in my Godzilla collection. If you told me this came from a premium brand like X-Plus, I would totally believe you.

    It’s okay but too expensive

Decent size and weight. With the tail curled up it doesn’t take too much space. I kinda hate the head. It looks nothing like the advertised picture. And no details on the eyes Pretty cheap looking. For the price $200+ I expected better.
